Republican Candidate Greg Gianforte Assaults a Reporter

Greg Gianforte: Fox News team witnesses GOP House candidate ‘body slam’ reporter

The race to fill Montana’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives took a violent turn Wednesday, and a crew from the Fox News Channel, including myself, witnessed it firsthand. As part of our preparation for a story about Thursday’s special election to air on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” we arranged interviews with the top two candidates, Republican Greg Gianforte and Democrat Rob Quist.

Various news outlets reported that Greg Gianforte the Republican candidate for Montana’s congressional seat assaulted a Reporter from the Guardian, Ben Jacobs when he asked Gianforte about the CBO score on the latest Republican health care bill.

The CBO score indicating millions will lose their Health Insurance on the Republican Health Bill is so indefensible, it’s no wonder Republican Greg Gianforte didn’t want to answer any questions about it and why he reacted violently (just my opinion).

According to the Fox News article below Fox News team witnesses GOP House candidate ‘body slam’ the reporter.

The Fox News article stated “Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the man, as he moved on top the reporter and began yelling something to the effect of “I’m sick and tired of this!”

Paul Ryan calls on Gianforte to apologize

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday that Greg Gianforte, the GOP House candidate who was charged with assaulting a reporter, should apologize but added that it is now up to voters in Montana to choose whether they want him as their representative in Congress.

As stated in the above article, Greg Gianforte is cited for misdemeanor assault.  Federal records show that the Gallatin County sheriff donated $250 to Gianforte’s congressional campaign in March. In his statement, Sheriff Brian Gootkin confirmed the donation.

Seems to me that Greg Gianforte should be charged with Felony Assault, which carries 20 years in jail and/or a fine of up to $50,000.

It also seems to me the reason he isn’t facing Felony Assault charges is because of his Republican buddies who are in the Sheriff’s department and other friends in the so called Montana “Justice” system who donated to his campaign.

This is another example of how there’s 2 justice systems… one for regular people and another for rich, well connected people like Gianforte.

What Punishment Does Greg Gianforte Face if Convicted of Assault?

A candidate for Congress has been charged with misdemeanor assault after allegedly body slamming a political reporter on the eve of his election. Because so many citizens have already voted early, it’s still likely that Republican Greg Gianforte will win the Montana special election today.
